Asthma

Asthma is an ongoing disease of the airways characterised by cough, wheeze, and shortness of breath or chest tightness. With treatment, someone with asthma should be able to carry out activities as comfortably as those who do not have asthma.

Asthma reviews usually take around 30 minutes, so please remember to tell the receptionist the type of appointment you wish to book when you phone to make your appointment.

This appointment affords an opportunity for both nurse and patient to discuss the patient’s asthma situation and create an individualised treatment plan. Your appointment will cover the following:

• Your well-being/quality of life
• Symptoms
• Asthma triggers
• Peak Flow
• Inhalers and Inhaler Technique
• Care and management of your condition

As Practice Nurses, we encourage you to arrange an appointment if at any point there are concerns regarding your asthma. This may include after any emergency hospital visits.

Our hope is to create a strong partnership that will empower you with the confidence to effectively manage your asthma.
