These appointments are provided free by the NHS and will ensure you receive the correct specialist care as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-column uagb-column__wrap uagb-column__background-gradient uagb-block-75b5a512-a6be-46ed-b362-af980d9e079f\"><div class=\"uagb-column__overlay\"><\/div><div class=\"uagb-column__inner-wrap\">\n<figure><iframe src=\"https:\/\/api-bridge.azurewebsites.net\/findservices\/?uid=Z2FyeUBnZW5wcmEuY29t&amp;h=400&amp;o=7&amp;a=1&amp;t=1\" style=\"border: none; height: 400px; width: 100%;\"><\/iframe><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chrispstreet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AdobeStock_93303474-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"Optician with patient\" class=\"wp-image-3152\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How can an Optician help?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Opticians (Optometrists) have the same specialist equipment as  specialist eye Doctors (Hospital Ophthalmologists) and may be able to treat and manage your eye problem without a need for you to go anywhere  else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They can also refer you to a Hospital Eye Clinic if necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To make an emergency appointment, telephone your Optician\/Optometrist or call&nbsp;<strong>111&nbsp;<\/strong>to speak to an Adviser when your local Optician is not available out of hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How often should I have an eye test?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our eyes rarely hurt when something is wrong with them, so having regular eye tests is important to help detect potentially harmful conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NHS recommends that you should get your eyes tested every two years (more often if advised by your Ophthalmic Practitioner or Optometrist).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An  NHS sight (eye) test is free of charge if you are in one of the  eligible groups and your sight test is considered clinically necessary.
